With the 4th of July just around the corner, you'll be
feeling chic and festive with these DIY Red Blue Flower Nails! We channeled the
bright colors, geometric shapes, and retro designs of the 1960’s for a look
that will make you feel like your nails could have come straight out of a Mad
Men episode – drinks optional!
Whether you’re heading to a barbeque with friends
or escaping the heat poolside, these polka dot and flower designs are so fun
you won’t be able to help having a good time yourself, so check out our step by
step tutorial below and get your nail art on!
First things first, you'll need the right materials! We used Lacquered Up and Cameo Blue for our base colors. For the silver dots, any fine silver glitter will work, but we used the one from Kiss (kit MDK05). Our flowers and polka dots were were done with acrylic paints, using Real Red, Pink Blush, Aquamarine, Spring Green, and Magnolia White. While these are the paints and polishes we used, feel free to get creative and make your own, original palette!
Step 1: Prep nails and apply base coat
.Step 2: Paint every other nail with the red and blue polish
.Step 3: Using a dotter nail tool or the head of a bobby pin, dot red nails using white acrylic paints
.Step 4: Using a large dotter nail tool or the head of bobby pin, create the flowers by making four dots to form the outline of the flower with one dot in the middle to fill it in.Step 5: Take your glitter striper polish and put some polish on a piece of cardboard paper. Dot the glitter in the middle of all the white dots
.Step 6: Dot alternating colors on the flowers to make the contrasting middle with the red, pink, and aquamarine acrylic paints.Step 7: Let dry and then with a super fine paint brush, draw the leaves and fill them in with the green acrylic paint.Step 8: Top Coat and let dry.Step 9: Admire your handiwork and make sure to show it off to all your friends!
